Inc., Announces New Rackmount Chassis for Sun® UltraAXmp motherboard
Sterling Heights, Michigan, January 21, 2000 Rave Computer Association, Inc., an authorized Sun® "Master value-added System Integrator," announces a new 4U form factor rackmount chassis for the UltraAXmp. The UltraAXmp is a scalable 64-bit UltraSPARC multi-processing motherboard with a unique Ultra Port Architecture (UPA) that enables the CPU bus bandwidth to be increased to 3.2 gigabytes per second via a custom cross bar switch. This large processor bandwidth enables scaling of up to four UltraSPARC-II microprocessor modules (currently shipping at 400MHz with 4MB cache). The motherboard supports up to 4 GB of memory, features integrated dual-channel Ultra-wide SCSI, and six PCI slots, four at 33MHz and two at 66MHz. The 4U standard chassis configurations include three 5.25 half-height exposed drive bays, two 3.5 low profile hidden bays, three removable load-sharing 300-Watt power supplies, and three 93-CFM cooling fans.
The 4U-AXmp can be pre-installed with Solaris 2.7 and is binary compatible with the broad array of current SPARC applications. Red Hat Linux 6.1 is offered as an optional operating system for the UltraAXmp. All of Rave Computer integrated systems feature a one-year warranty. The powerful multiprocessing features found in the UltraAXmp provides an ideal solutions for telecommunication servers, ISP applications or specialized commercial and financial applications.

HOUSTON, January 18, 2000 - Extending its Compaq NonStop eBusiness solutions strategy, Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today announced new hardware-based encryption technology. Customers who need secure, encrypted transaction processing-without today's performance delays-now have a solution. Compaq's new AXL200 Accelerator PCI hardware dramatically accelerates, by up to 20 times, the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) processing, which is necessary to ensure the privacy and security of transactions. Compaq's AXL200 card delivers more than 240 SSL connections per second.
The AXL200 Accelerator PCI card runs on Intel based servers running Microsoft® Windows NT® Server 4.0 and Windows® 2000. It supports Sun Solaris 2.6 on SPARC systems. It will support Linux in the future.

HOUSTON, Texas and PALO ALTO, Calif. - January 20, 2000 - As part of its ongoing effort to deliver high quality, real time provisioning of network bandwidth, Enron Broadband Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Enron Corp, today announced an agreement with Sun Microsystems, Inc. intended to accelerate adoption of broadband Internet services.
As part of the buildout of the Enron Intelligent Network, Enron Broadband Services will purchase 18,000 Netra[tm] carrier-grade and Enterprise[tm] servers and associated storage and services from Sun to expand the EIN. "This alliance with Sun, along with Enron's initiatives in bandwidth trading and intermediation, will bring fundamental changes to the Internet," said Jeff Skilling, President and COO, Enron.

IRVINE, CA. January 19, 2000 - Western Digital Corporation (NYSE:WDC) today announced that it will exit the enterprise hard drive business and shift its full strategic focus and resources in the enterprise space to Internet-related data content management systems and management software. Western Digital's Rochester, Minnesota-based enterprise hard drive design center will cease operations, resulting in a special charge against operations in the company's 2000 fiscal third quarter, which ends March 31.
"We are exiting the enterprise hard drive business because our share has been declining in a market that is getting increasingly competitive with fewer suppliers required, yet which demands continued major investments to be a dominant player, " said Matt Massengill, Western Digital's president and chief executive officer, who emphasized that Western Digital would remain a major supplier of desktop and home entertainment hard drives.

Announces Record Results for Fiscal 2000 2nd Quarter Ended December 31, 1999|
Albuquerque, NM, January 18, 2000 - SBS Technologies, Inc. ("SBS") ("the Company") (Nasdaq: SBSE) today announced results of its second quarter of fiscal 2000 ended December 31, 1999. The Company reported that sales for the quarter were $32.4 million, compared to $26.9 million for the second quarter of the prior fiscal year. Net income for the quarter was $3.9 million, compared to $2.8 million of reported net income for the same quarter of the prior fiscal year.
"The second quarter was a very rewarding one for our Company as we achieved record new orders, sales, net income and earnings per share. Within the Computer Group, sales to the communications market increased 150%, compared with the second quarter of last year, and exceeded 20% of our Company sales for the quarter. The acquisition of SciTech, which was neutral to earnings per share in the quarter, expands our communications network I/O product line and adds new communications business with customers such as TollBridge, Copper Mountain and Lucent. SBS Europe performed well as sales increased 22% over the prior year second quarter. The one weak spot for the quarter was our Aerospace Group." said Christopher J. Amenson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
