Editor's comments:- Sun's press release compares the new box favorably with IBM's servers. Unfortunately, Sun's real competitor in this part of the Wintel space is Dell. The new products look impressive at first glance until you look at the processor clock speeds. Then you come back to the same old problem... If you're looking for a sports car you'll be disappointed if you look under the hood expecting to find a 5 litre turbocharged fuel injected engine, and instead discover a 2 litre diesel. I'm sure that people will buy the new systems, but Sun's press release is, as usual, unbelievably over the top in marketing hype.

Seagate Seagate Honored with 2001 Supplier Performance Award from Sun

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. — 29 October 2001 — Seagate today announced it has received this year's Supplier Performance Award from Sun Microsystems for its role as the computing giant's supplier of data storage technology.
