  • editor's notes:- in 1995 3Dlabs made an SBus graphics accelerator for Sun workstations called the PX15-24. Using Intel's i860 processor it provided 160MFLOPs of 24 bit graphics with 1152 x 900 bits resolution. Other 24 bit graphics accelerator companies which targeted the Sun market in those days included Tatung, Evans & Sutherland and Connectware.

A lot more companies made 8 bit SBus graphics adapters including:- Aries Research, Artecon, Dressler, DTK Computer, EKF-Elektronik, Force Computers, Integrix, Megatek, Pinnacle Data Systems, Tech-Source and Vigra.

I used to tease some of my graphics adapter advertisers by saying that I couldn't see the point of them offering more than 8 bits color. As I'm color blind I can only see about 6 bits.

But if you do need the speediest SSD then wading through the web sites of over 55 current SSD oems to find a suitable candidate slows you down.

And the SSD search problem will get even worse.
the Fastest Solid State Disks
I predict there will be over 100 SSD oems in 2008.

I've done the research for you to save you time. And this page is updated daily from storage news and direct inputs from oems. ...read the article,
