Axil Computer, Inc., Santa Clara, California, was
founded in September 1991 to achieve a new level of technology innovation,
investment protection and lowest cost of ownership for the growing client/server
market for SPARC-based workstations and servers. As an independent U.S.
Corporation backed by the $80 billion Hyundai Group, Axil has emerged as one of
the leading providers of SPARC/Solaris compatible products (2nd after Sun
Microsystems) by leveraging the strengths and partnerships of a global
corporation with its own leading-edge engineering and marketing expertise.
Axil Computer, Inc. distinguishes itself by delivering the latest
advances in SPARC technology and the most aggressive price/performance levels in
the industry. Its focus on innovation design and engineering has produced its
own ASIC technology and multiprocessor designs and packaging, resulting in
investment protection and value to the customer.
As a board member of SPARC International, Axil participates in all
SPARC development planning and reviews and approves all changes to the SPARC
architecture. Over the long term, this participation and understanding enables
Axil to bring its products to market more quickly.
- Editor's notes:- In the period 1992 to 1997, Axil
designed and manufactured a full product line of
workstations and servers.
In Q1 1998, Axil announced that it would
stop marketing SPARC systems and refocus on its Pentium based NT servers. Later
in 1998 Axil closed down.
