Nibbles from SPARC History

Bit 3 Computer Corporation's SBus to VMEbus adapters appeared in the first edition of our SBus Product Directory in 1992 which provided free listings for all SBus cards and SPARC systems. Bit 3 Computer started advertising in our directory in 1995, and continued long after they merged into SBS Technologies.

The first SPARC systems in 1987 had been VME based. This 1999 banner ad, on the right, from SBS Technologies was targeting owners of legacy systems who wanted to upgrade to faster processors which were not available in a VME form factor.
