FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Old Computer Directories May be Worth $1,000

Baughurst UK - March 15, 2001 - ACSL, publisher of two leading computer web directories which cover the Sun enterprise server and storage markets is offering $1,000 (one thousand US dollars) as a discount off selected new advertising orders, to any company which can reproduce the front covers of related print directories, which covered the Sun market during the period 1992 to 1997.

The specified directories, which qualify for the discount include ACSL's SBus Product Directory", "SPARC Product Directory" and SPARC International's "SPARCbuilder". Advertisers who can find a copy of these old directories, only need to fax a copy of the front page with their order. The $1,000 disount will apply to any order placed during the period March 15 upto May 1, 2001, provided that the order value (before the discount is applied) is $3,000 or more. The offer is available to new advertisers and current advertisers who can beef up their current ad packages. The discount can be applied to advertising on either the SPARC Product Directory, or STORAGEsearch web sites, which currently attract over 130,000 readers each month.

Commenting about the offer, publisher Zsolt Kerekes said "It will be interesting to see who has hung onto these old printed directories. We switched to a web format in 1996, and were the third publication in our market to do so, following SunWorld (now Unix Insider), and SPARC International's - SPARC.org. The last edition of our print directory was printed just over 4 years ago, but there may still be some 9 year old editions lurking in someone's bookshelf, but hopefully not still on their desks. They're now worth as much as $1,000 - just for a photocopy of the front cover."

"Although we sold most of the directories directly via mailshots, many of these old directories were also distributed by intermediaries including SPARC International, VITA, Novation Data Services, and worldwide technical book distributers in the pre-web, pre-Amazon days. It will be interesting to see where they turn up."

"Nowadays, $3,000 is below the entry level that most of our advertisers spend on our web sites, and the biggest advertisers spend upto 40 times as much each month as the smallest. Although I agree with Sun Microsystems and EMC that the SPARC server, and enterprise storage markets are recession proof, I think that many VARS and OEMS may welcome the opportunity that this discount will offer to save money by switching to focused web promotion. We know it works. We sold our first web advertising in February 1996 (shortly before our web site started) and the same advertisers are still with us."

Information about ad rates and options can be seen on the above mentioned web sites. Inquiries about this offer can be sent to sales@ SPARCproductDirectory.com

Ad space is offered subject to availability and suitability for the target readership. No more than one discount can be claimed by any one company placing an ad. Advertisers claiming the discount, do not have to be the original owner of the directory. If they can get a copy from their customers, or suppliers, that still qualifies. A full size facsimile of the front cover must be faxed with the order to qualify for the $1,000 discount.

Old falling apart books
The headquarters of the Old Wessex Division of the goblins was in the tunnels beneath the old bookshop in Petersfield. If you went into the dark forgotten corners of the shop, and moved aside the dusty bookcase with the really old falling-apart books with no covers, which were hardly ever sold, you might, if you looked carefully, see the outline of a secret door which led into the tunnels underground.
