Ross Technology, founded by alumni of
Cypress Semiconductor
who made the 2nd generation SPARC chip for Sun's SPARCstation 1, used to
manufacturer 32 bit
HyperSPARC
processor chips, modules and motherboards.
These HyperSPARC chips were
a competitive upgrade for MBus workstations including
Sun Microsystems
SPARCstation models 10, and 20.
RossTech used the marketing services
of the SPARC Product Directory
to generate wider awareness of its products and succeeded in getting many 3rd
party oem design slots.
But the company never made the transition to a
64 bit SPARC product.
Ross Technology closed down in 1998.
For
a short time afterwards these products were still available from
BridgePoint
Technical Manufacturing.

of SPARC computing. | |
