Nibbles from SPARC History
It was always difficult for companies which competed directly with Sun's own services to market themselves effectively. If they were too aggressive they often worried (in my view needlessly) about spoiling their relationship with Sun. Paradoxically, Sun could be an important referrer of leads to such companies. SoftTech Solutions used to market diagnostics and parts knowledgeware which enabled technically savvy end users and VARs to do their own first line fault finding and module replacement.

The banner ad on the right, from SoftTech Solutions, ran in the SPARC Product Directory in March 2000.
