SME is expanding its market base to provide competitive advantage to customers in telecommunications, computing, imaging and networked peripherals.

• editor's notes:- in the mid 1990s Sun Microsystems had a special business group devoted to selling its SPARC chips, HBAs and motherboards. At various times it was called "Sun Microelectronics", or "SPARC Technology Business". As the number of SPARC OEMs collapsed that business folded back into the main company's operations.
